Health Care

Your dental health is important to your overall health and well-being. The Kiewit extended health care plan through Manulife includes the following dental coverage:

• 100% for up to two routine visits per calendar year with no deductible
• 80% of covered supplementary services
• 50% of major covered services
• 50% for orthodontia care (up to $3,000 lifetime for each covered individual)

There is an annual benefit maximum of $1,500.

The extended health care plan through Manulife includes the following medical coverage:

• 100% coverage for hospital stays (semi-private room, medical services and supplies)
• 50% for medical treatment/referral outside of Canada
• Up to $500 per calendar year for paramedical rehabilitation services
• Unlimited psychologist, social worker, clinical counsellor and psychotherapist services
• $5 million lifetime maximum for travel assistance and out-of-country emergency
• Fitting and purchase of hearing aids (up to $500 every five calendar years)
• $15,000 per calendar year for private duty nursing

There is a $50 deductible per calendar year (not applicable to out-of-country emergencies/referrals).

Kiewit knows you’re busy juggling the demands of work and life. That’s why the company offers a variety of virtual care programs to get you the support you need on your schedule. 

• Kiewit non-union staff employees in Canada have 24/7 access to knowledgeable clinicians via mobile phone, computer or tablet.  
• The service is offered through TELUS Health, a Manulife partner, and is available in both French and English. 
• Telus clinicians can diagnose, write and renew prescriptions, and provide referrals to specialists, labs and imaging centers. 
• There is no charge for most services.  

Get Started  

• If you haven’t already, register on the Manulife plan members site 
• Once you’re registered with Manulife, go to manulifehealthcareonline.com and follow the instructions to register and set up your Telus account. 
• Download the TELUS app and activate your account. 
• Set up your profile, add family members, and you’re ready to begin using the service.

When you are enrolled in the Kiewit extended health care plan through Manulife, prescription drug coverage is included.  

• With the plan, you will pay a dispensing fee plus a percentage for each prescription.  
• The plan will cover the lowest cost alternative (usually the generic) prescription drug. 
• If no generic is available, the plan will cover the brand drug.  
• If a generic is available and you choose the higher priced option, you will pay the difference in cost.

If you are enrolled in the Manulife extended health care plan, vision coverage is included. Coverage includes:

• A full eye exam with no deductible (one per calendar year)
• Prescription glasses or elective contacts (up to $200 per calendar year)
• Medically necessary contact lenses (up to $200 every two years)
